Will you see northern lights tonight? This combines NOAA aurora and Kp forecasts with your location, local night window, cloud cover, precipitation risk, moonlight and light pollution.

Viewing location

Best results come from a dark place with a clear view toward the pole: north in the northern hemisphere, south in the southern hemisphere.

How it decides

The score is an observing score, not a guarantee. Space weather can be strong while clouds ruin the view, or a faint aurora can become visible from a dark site with a camera.

Sources

Space weather uses NOAA SWPC aurora products and Kp forecast data. Local sky conditions use Open-Meteo forecast data. Moonlight is estimated locally in the browser.
